Weeks 7 - 8:

For week 7, we will finish up the EL Civics Assessment (oral report) on home safety and security.

We will not have class on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 26 and 27.

For these two weeks, we will continue to review comparative and superlative adjectives and practice reading comprehension.

Week 6 Activities:

This week, we'll finish up the Emotions and Characteristics project (participial adjectives). See -- and hear -- students' PowerPoint projects here soon!

We'll also prepare for next week's EL Civics Oral Report, and begin studying comparative adjectives. In a couple of weeks we'll have the post-videotaping for the Speaking with the Stars project. You'll be able to see the winners of the competition here at the end of the term.

Week 5 Activities:

No School Monday, Nov. 10!

This week we'll work on the "Speaking with the Stars" project by practicing the scripts with teams and getting feedback on speaking (pronunciation, stress, intonation, etc.). We will also finish up the EL Civics Oral Report PowerPoint presentations for the EL Civics Assessment Task 2. Then we'll start working on the next project, "My Characteristic and Emotions," a PowerPoint presentation based on the grammar we will study for the week.

For grammar this week, we will begin to study participial adjectives (-ing and -ed describing words and their differences, such as relaxed v. relaxing). This is the PowerPoint presentation we used in class:

Remember: No School Monday, Nov. 10 at MiraCosta College! See you on Tuesday. Enjoy your three-day weekend (from school, anyway).

This week we will finish up working on past with past continuous and have a quiz, complete the EL Civics Assessment Task 1 (filling out an accident/crime form), and begin working on Task 2 (oral report) by making a PowerPoint slideshow for the presentations.
